Snapshot
Older brother of Heath, Rhyce Shaw made his AFL debut in Round 16 2000 against Hawthorn at the Telstra Dome. He had limited game time until 2004 where he played 16 games and he began 2005 in outstanding form. Midway through the season he underwent a knee reconstruction and once again played limited games in 2006 but averaged 19 possessions in the nine games he did play. In 2007 he played 14 games of a possible 25. Was traded to the Swans at the end of 2008 and finished 2nd in their Best & Fairest in his first season.

Season 2009
Played all 22 games at his new club, averaging 24 possessions and was rewarded by finishing second in the Swans' Best & Fairest count. He had the most possessions at the Swans for the season with 532, was second in the AFL for kicks behind Dane Swan and had an effective disposal percentage of 79.14.
John Longmire season review: We were obviously hopeful that we'd got a very good player but he exceeded our expectations. He was outstanding in all aspects. On the field he was fantastic; he gave us some real run after Tadhg Kennelly left. Off the field, he's been a great pick-up. Second in the best and fairest is a great reward, and it's a credit to the way he's approached his new club.

Season 2008
In 2008 Shaw played 20 games and posted a career-high 32 possessions in Collingwood's win over Adelaide in round 15. Late in the season he was suspended by the club following an off-field incident but returned and played in the Magpie's two finals appearances. At the end of the season he was traded from Collingwood to Sydney and shold fit easily into the Swans' line-up.
